Description

Scientists arrive at Groombridge 34 - the site of an Allied Fleets research facility. The transport can be found in free stuff (VCX-350) and the large starship can be found in my storefront (Allied Fleets Heavy Battle Cruiser). Completely modeled and rendered in 3DS max without any touching up.

The atmosphere glow is a sphere around the planet with an opacity map gradient ramp (type set to normal) - that makes it more transparent where the normals are more "straight on" to the camera. The nice thing about this is that it scales really well as you zoom the camera in and out. Combine that with a bright light and it makes a nice horizon glow.
