Description

So the last three were of a good friend who was with me on the highlands trip, Kat. Admittedly you could only see her face on one of them, but here we go for a portrait. Believe me when i say it is extremely difficult to get a shot of Kat like this, it has taken me 3 years to be able to point anything but a compact camera on a night out in her general direction...so a rare occurrence indeed that i managed to get a portrait shot of her where i could control lighting :) She was just looking down as i was playing around with the flash so i just took the shot and was glad i did... Ringflash (same as the one on my self portrait) fired from camera left for the soft lighting... taken on a beach of all places. Enjoy! Rich

I thought cbender might like this -- the intimate lighting and perfect use of facial features in the composition kind of remind me of some of his best work. I'd like to see a color version at some point, but the lack of color here actually makes you notice the light and textures a lot more, which are amazing. I'm glad you got this shot, and I hope she appreciates it, too! Hey Kat, you reading this? You're part of an awesome picture!
