Description

Sorry for the repost but I accidentally deleted the previous one. This is an adaptation of my "Commander Pirx" model and render that I did for 3D world magazine. You can find him on the cover and on 2 pages inside the magazine. The name "Pirx" is of course from "Pilot the Pirx" by sci fi writer Stanislaw Lem.

I was reading about the pictures taken on the moon and there is only one of Neil Armstrong and it is as a reflection in Buzz Aldrin's gold bubble face shield. No way for a retake. The director can shout in his bullhorn and slap his/her jodpuhrs with his/her riding crop in frustration but only some TV and movie footage of lesser resolution was made of Armstrong except for in deep shadow and just a leg. So Commander Pirx has a lot of expansion value. The mind can go long and catch a pass deep in the star zone.

Great modeling and texturing work. I really love the details you put into the helmet and the texture of the flight suit... very tactile in appearance. Congrats on getting a cover shot.
