Description
A fine new organ of four manuals and forty-five stops built by Henry Willis was installed in 1887, since when it has seen very little alteration. One of many built to a standard design, the combination of its superb voicing and the Cathedral's fine acoustics have given it a reputation as one of the finest organs in the world. The organ was playing while I was there, it really was fantastic!

The leather bellows must have been replaced a few times along the way. Organs present a formal envelope for mental processes. A single man can enthrall a crowd.

now that's an instrument =) we had a music teacher at school who just wouldn't shut up about how the organ is by far the most impressive, loudest, biggest instrument there is and what a joy and challenge it was to play... i'm sure he'd go nutty over this! nice shot
