Description
Yes, this is a big spider. She was photographed in Tirimbina while searching for frogs at night. If anyone has a way to identify it, please let me know. Our guide/biologist that night did not know specifics about this beauty.

My thought is, if you found this near water, it is probably a Dolomedes Fishing Spider but it might also be a Micrathena, a huge wolf spider also found in Costa Rica. The Fishing Spider has poisonous types in its catagory. Both do not make webs but wander around looking for prey. The Fishing Spider has some subtle markds that are not too obvious and I'm not sure if your's does or not. You can go to Whatsthatbug.com and check out photos of spiders for ID and see which your's most closely resembles. I suggest trying page 6 of spider ID.
