Description

I've been really busy recently so it's been a week since my last post but I must first thank everyone who commented and favourited my last image, 'Riding The Storm' as it pushed me to 34th in the 'Favourited Image' chart. Todays image was never meant to be posted as it was just an experiment in Photoshop postwork techniques, but my wife (debz) liked it ... so here it is. The main image was created in Bryce and consisted of JedSwindells excellent ship models plus the distant terrain. Photoshop postwork included using the Pen Tool to cut out images of all the seagulls, the dolphins and the hot air balloons (all images courtesy of http://www.sxc.hu). Sea spray was added for the dolphins as well as the distant buildings on the terrain. The moon was added a few minutes before posting, mainly because I just felt like it. There is also very slight wake added behind the ship on the right. This image only really came into being as I sort of fell in love with the sky that I'd created in Bryce. Enjoy ... Tony :-)

The first thing people notice I'm sure is the ships, their detailing & the way you allow the far ones to be bathed in the atmosphere of distance. But what's equally striking is your palette(s): The deep pinks leading into late-day yellows, and the subtle violets ever-so-quietly speaking along the horizon and in parts of the water. Your fish are a gentle counterpoint to the whole; and the background has a Turner-like fade to it—present but apparition-like, and quite beautiful. This has an apocalyptic feel to it, but very gentle and enveloping, like a deep place of peace at the end of a long journey. You seem to have fallen into your hues & mood, and made a gift of it. Beautiful work, and very contemplative and affirming.
