Description

Here is another one that's been resurrected from my 80% complete folder - a USN fast attack hunter killer unit. I've always liked the idea of these massive, flying naval vessels, though despite what one would assume are some pretty advanced positioning systems, I still insist on having them tied off at dock with traditional ropes ;) The real star of this scene is a slightly kit bashed EDF Andromeda by Don Gaiser (foundation3d.com), so thanks to Don for making it available. Great atmosphere - hopefully you have some more 80% projects lingering somewhere in the depths of your HDD. ;) Love the idea that these shipp still need to be tied to the dock using ordinary ropes. :)

One thing about Sci-Fi that always gets under my skin is lack of attention to detail. I can accept a lot of strange concepts if they are consistent within their own world, but forgetting to dot the I's and cross the T's makes me itch. That's why you are one of my favorite Sci-Fi illustrators. You depict everyday Sci-Fi worlds as the grubby, industrialized places they most likely will be (if we survive that long). You even poke fun at your own lapses, such as tying off a ship like this with rope, when a MagLev Gravitational GPS would do (and is doing) the job so much better. My hat's off to you for all the amazing images. BTW: if you can see my rating, the only reason this image is not 5 stars is because it is not YOUR best image. If it was from anyone else, it's an easy 5-star. Your consistent excellence has simply set the bar too high.
