Description

The nature of depression is isolating people from you, but also crying out for companionship. On one hand you are pushing people away, but on the other hand you are reaching out for people. The hand that pushes away is always the dominate one. Then there is a continual isolation. Just sharing part of myself to the world about my battle with depression. ~Stacey~

This is the perfect aphorism for the feelings a person suffering from depression has to go through. Hard to believe that no one commented so far!!

Thank you. It is ok if no one comments. I think that it is good enough statement to just get people to ponder and recognize even their own isolation. ~Stacey~

You are extremely intuitive!! My goodness... I agree completely with SaintFox (ok, ok, after looking up the word 'aphorism' -- LOL!! -- ) that this perfectly portrays the spirit of depression. Been there, done that, done that a thousand times... And yes, your image is, for me, how it's been. A simultaneous repulsion and beckoning. The perfect (if I can use that word regarding something so devastating) -- dichotomy. 2 things about the image itself: I immediately loved the lighting and the character's expression. I thought, "Ohh, I would love to see this much larger!" But the distance of the character, and the size of the image -- you know, it made me lean in... To get a better look at the character. Then I thought.... "This is exactly what depression does... people lean toward us while we deliberately place ourselves at a safe distance." damn. BRAVO!!!

Thanks, and yes the figure herself is smaller because the picture plan is the viewer observing her behavior. She is at a distance from the viewer. This is exactly what I do when I have boughts (spelling?) of depression. ~Stacey~

Beautifully concieved and executed. You had a concept and you had the courage to stick with it. It would not have worked if she filled the space. Would that have shown depression? NOT. I can see her saying stop, go away with one hand and come here and hold me with the other. The classic dualism of this blight. It is not ok that people don't stop and look at real emotive art. But while this is a great forum filled with talented and many really helpful and caring persons many people are here to look at T&A and pretty chics. Don't let it get you down, keep putting out works like this. People will notice. It just takes time, there are a huge number of pics being posted and so the chance of being instantly noticed is not big. But I think you will do great here.
