Description

Probably the most photographed castle in Scotland. The first fortified castle here was built in the mid 13th century guarding the lands of Kintail. Since then at least four different versions of the castle have been built and rebuilt as the feudal history of Scotland unfolded through the centuries. Partially destroyed by a Jacobite uprising in 1719 Eilean Donan lay in ruins for the best part of 200 years until lieutenant Colonel John MacRea-Gilstrap bought the island in 1911 and proceeded to restore the castle to its former glory. After 20years of toil and labour the castle was re-opened in 1932. Narrative gained from The Official website where they have a good vitual tour inside the castle at- http://www.eileandonancastle.com/ I bacame a Grandad for the second time late last night, my son Antony and Jade became the proud parents of a little boy. Thanks for looking, Alan.

Many shots I have seen but few incorporate the unique beauty of the low tide sea as well. Your depth of field is amazing and the vibrant greens of the kelp and algae add wonderful life to the composition. Again you capture a view few would have seen or thought to photograph.
