Description

Jupiter showing the Great Red Spot. This image was taken on July 18, 2008. A black and white webcam was used to take individual "movies" of about 2000 frames each through red, green, and, blue filters. The "movies" were then analyzed frame-by-frame to assemble a single image for each color filter using a technique called stacking. Photoshop color merge is finally used to assemble the final color image. Telescope: TMB 152 mm refractor. Camera: SkyNyx 2-0M Registax, Photoshop software.
