Description

AlooooooHa! I had to attend a seminar in Oahu over the weekend and got a chance to stay overnight in Honolulu for a change. This shot is from a building that house's the Hard Rock Cafe in Waikiki at about 7 am Sunday morning. This street is called Kalakaua named after our ruling King from many years ago. If ever there was a tourist trap this street which runs for a couple miles will offer you just about everything you could imagine. Many high end shops are located here and it's busy 24/7. I use to live close to this area, and I'm glad I made the move to the Big Island. Just too damn crowded for my taste, but still a great city to photograph. This was taken with my little 4 meg camera that hardly gets used any more. But due to airline restrictions on baggage, I opted to bring this little guy along. This is one image processed into 3 images....-2,0,+2, then combined into the image you see. Some layer tweaks, a curve adjustment, and some other things I can't remember now. As always bigger is better. Thanks for having a look, and many mahalo's for dropping by...Peace everyone! Aloha~

I've been to the islands three times, and never had any desire to go to Honolulu. I'd rather be out hiking with you and Eroll. LOL Great colorful shot; I don't imagine it's that quiet very often.

Wow, even for your little camera, this is a great shot. It looks a lot like an artists drawing for a future project... Love your tweaks...Such a beautiful capture. Aloha

4mp - Ya done great! I'm really fascinated with this image. The more I look, the more I see. For instance, the planar areas of the building really stand out because they are well saturated. In a sense, I think the 4mp works in your favor. The trees have about the resolution I would expect but it works. The street life has a ghostly feel. I don't know how you did it, but you made it all work!

Heya Na'e. :^) I was wondering if this was an HDR. It definately has that kind of look to it....It's interesting to see that you can still get a wonderful image of this artistic quality, with just a wee cam ... and a whole lot of ingenuity. Just goes to show, it isn't all about the cam, eh? ;^) Great job, sweetie. Hugs and alohaaaaaaaa! -M :^)
