Description

A little more colour today as promised and a pic St Andrews cathedral, or at least what remains of part of it. I'd be surprised if you hadn't seen a photo of this before, the cathedral and cemetary are very photographed spots by the fairly constant stream of tourists here. The best pov is looking under the arch so that the far off towers are framed by it, but you can still see the near tower extending into the sky. Unfortunately this requires a lens wider than 18mm to not cut off the top of the tower, and while that is on 'the list', I'll have to content myself with this for the time being.. Thought I'd try and give it a different slant to the postcard shots and decided to shoot at that time of the day again ;) This was taken the same morning as 'Curves' and 'Sailor's Warning', half an hour or so before sunrise. Still an impressive sight to me even after nearly five years in town, I think this has only featured once before in my gallery, here, but it's difficult to resist its pull on the lens.. Thanks for recent comments and favs, and have a great day! Adam

Well done on your POV and the sky! And for being able to get access so early in the morning. Best time to miss the tourists too. Cheers, Clive

Very creative way to overcome the limits of the "ordinary" lens. Great textures and post work.

The point of view with the tower trailing up like a great pointing finger and the other in the distance gives this a real feeling of pulling you into the image. Well done!

Very beautiful pov, and excellent mood in this superb view. Personally though, the sharpness and crispness in the details are a bit too equal between the foreground and the background, which is, to me again, an advantage in digital photography for some subjects, but I wish you'd rendered the background with a little more blur, so as to convey the natural DOF in real viewing conditions...This being said, this is an excellent photo, Adam!

In this case the distortion creates a very unique POV... almost as if the ruins are alive.
