Description

This character is built in polys. I created him for the purpose of exploring quadroped rigging and also different texturing techniques. I plan to composite him into live footage using Shake. Go to http://www.jeffunay.com/pages/Quadro2.html to view the creature's entire development - its concept sketches, base model, textures, test renders, skeleton structure and its rig. Software: Maya 4

Modulok, the skeleton structure came from a human biped structure compliments of Full Sail (my professor got the file from Siggraph '01 for free). We put those low poly bones into our hi-res characters so when animating it's a lot faster. Whenever I rig a hi res character, I usually use this technique. So basically, I didn't model each bone, just tweaked the hell out of it to fit my model.

Freeky, great modelling, I myself also prefer polys before Nurbs, I guess you cant tell in the end anyway. Would wery much like to see it animated. Did you use the artisan tool to paint it?

Henrikx, I used the 3D paint tool to cover some of the noticable seams but for the most part, I laid out the UVs and painted over them in Photoshop. I plan to add more details to the texture once I finish modeling my newest character. You can view him at http://www.jeffunay.com/pages/ReconSoldier1.html if you're interested. Thanks.
