My name is Tony Shaw and I have been working for a UK Bank since I left school in 1983. I have spent from 1990 working in their IT department as a software developer. With the threat of redundancy hanging over me next year, and having written a web-site for my Dad, I decided to train myself up in web and graphic design and as a result found Renderosity.
The graphic tools I'm using in my spare time are Adobe Photoshop, Bryce, Apophysis, Terragen and Vue ... I don't have any particular favourite as they all have their good and bad points.
I have not posted some of my very early works as they are quite basic and would not look out of place in comics, however I hope you will take time to browse through my gallery so far and any comments, whether good or bad will be greatly received as they will keep me motivated and hopefully improve my designs.
Happy rendering.

This is amazing!!! You're a regular Photoshop Jedi! Dude, this...is wonderful! I wish I could say more. The whole sense of it is overwhelming. To begin with I have a soft spot for decaying, crumbling buildings. To me, they are an artform in and of themselves. There's something hyper-romantic about walking through ruins especially after it has been over-run with foliage. This image just lept out at me because of it's large, expansive scope. This is a ruin I would love to walk through or just sit in, and ruminate. Nicely done, mister!

There's a scene at the end of "Nostalgia" by Tarkovsky (the filmmaker) with the shell of a cathedral in the middle of a forest. Not suggesting you copied or saw it—this is wholly your own—but to say you're in fine company. It's a highly complex work, filled with nightscape hues and shadows, and the kind of spindly tendrils that typify cathedral architecture especially when exposed like this. But you really give everything its due. There's actually much beauty despite the menace; the back facade is lit and actually quite inviting; the vaulting actually feels like structures from the Eiffel Tower, and its exposure is quite enticing; and you've got a nice balance between inside & outside as if both exist in the same space'. Still, it's spooky and devastated, a debris-laden vision, and that big branch left to center flows nicely with the whole. You do fine & thoughtful work.

"It is made up of parts of 14 different photographs, 38 layers and took me 3 days to complete." You sound like me, I have one right now with 42 layers, lol. I hope your pc could handle it better than mine. Mine keeps freezing up on me... :^/ Anyhoo... this is brilliant, Tony. I love the branch in the foreground. It gives this sush a wonderful depth. Fabulous work with the foliage, too. It was the perfect touch for this. Bravo on you. M :^)
