Looking good. Not sure what you mean by scaled up too high. If I recall correctly from seeing images painted of centaurs, the "horse" area melds with the "human" area right below the waistline of the "human" area and it looks to me as if you have him positioned there. Nice job on the melding.

Posssibly the human part is a bit large, but it still looks good,the specular might need toned down a bit on the horse's hide.
