Description

This is a Black Bear skull painted with a story of life and a journey by a friend of mine who is of Native American Heritage. I asked him to paint his ideas as he saw for me after being friends for 15 years. I treasure it as a gift and for its meanings. I keep it on my bookshelf as it has been for a dozen years. He once told me the meaning of all of the details. We get to see each other only a couple times each year now. Hope you like the backdrop setting, it is an old piece of leather from my Grandfathers camp that hung on the walls for years. Best to all, and thank you for the comments. -GB-

I know many of the symbols...long travel (perhaps to mean life) and strength, fearlessness, etc. Beautiful treasure and your capture is too. I do not have a bear skull as they are illegal to have in this state, but I do have many other skulls. Perhaps I will think about a story such as this on the skull of someone else's totem animal as gift. Great idea.

Oh my! I was so surprised to see my name,:-) This is magnificent George, thank you so much for sharing it! Well I don't know how to 'read' it but I see the sacred circle with the four directions, and thats of course very important! I have to get a book that defines the symbols! I simply don't know what to say except its beautiful and of course its going in my favs!!! Alex thinks its beautiful too:-)
