Description

Used a NASA map from the CD of 3D World issue 107 and built a ship inspired by Adam Benton, who was in turn, inspired by Chris Foss. Modelled in LW 9.2, rendered in radiosity in F-prime and LW (exhaust glow). The exhaust re-worked in PS-CS3.

Excellent...most excellent. Chris Foss is one of my perennial sf art favorites, along with Colin Hay and others. This reminds me a bit of a re-vamped, updated entry into one of those Terran Trade Authority handbooks that graced my childhood years and set me firmly on the road to writing my own science fiction. What really strikes me about this is the fact that its realistic and the ship-design itself looks quite feasible. Great color, great sense of drama, and like any great piece of SF artwork, it inspires any number of stories...that's always a plus.
