Description

The first ofmy Eyed Hawk-Moth-pupae. She is lying in the ground since the 27. of July and now she stripped her old skin and looks totally difficult... You could see the antennae on the head and the little embossed wings. Now we must wait till May or June 2009 ... Hope you like - and thanks for the comments.

My goodness... that's a hard "gestation!" The chance of being stepped on or eaten are great. Fabulous macro.

Cool shot. Such an amazing transformation taking place. I can only image how frustrating it will be waiting till next spring for the emergence. This past week, I have had 11 of 14 Io moth pupae emerge. They took a month from start of pupae to emergence and I was counting days, lol. Thanks for sharing and BTW, next week, I will be posting pics showing my results. Lee

This is gorgeous - I love that you can actually see what's inside it! I always find the concept of metamorphosis so intriguing! That's a long wait you have tho! I had no idea some of them took that long.
