Description
Picture was taken a few years back, on a quiet Sunday afternoon in Potchefstroom. Potchefstroom, a large academic town with the North West University, is situated on the banks of the Mooi River, 120km west-southwest of Johannesburg in the North West province. The town is slated to be renamed Tlokwe, although many residents oppose the change. The municipality has already spent more than R250 000 on the name changes of streets in town, including the much-debated heritage site, Eikelaan. The PAG has indicated that they will seek legal advice, as the municipality has acted wrongfully in changing the names of the streets included in the more than six kilometre national heritage site lined with acorn trees. Who would believe that this peaceful picture hosts a town with so much conflict?

Ek is baie lus om in Afrikaans te vloek as ek weer na die storie luister. Dis darem tragies wat hulle met ons land se geskiedenis doen. Whenever I see Eikelaan, it reminds me of Aardklop and the beer gardens under these lovely trees. This is a stunning shot Santa and the monotone give it an even more peaceful look. Hope we can have that glass of wine tomorrow!!!
