Description

This is a piece I began several weeks ago. I decided to finish it this morning. It's been a fairly bumpy July. I feel the need to tell ya'll about it to try to get a point accross. My mother died of COPD last week. That makes the second parent I have lost to cigaretts. I don't want you guys to think I'm preaching because I also smoked for 21 years. (Been off for 11) I watched my mother gasping for air with the medical equivalent of a fighter pilot mask over her face. Oxygen being forced into her lungs to try to flush out the CO2 that was slowly poisoning her. Her mind was still whole and she was suffocating. She couldn't speak because of the effort, but the fear showed in her eyes. Guys, if any of you smoke please make a plan to stop as soon as you can muster up the guts to do it. Personally I tried 3 times (cold turkey) the third time being the charm. If you have family you care about, please deny them the horror of watching you suffocate before their eyes. Smoking is just slow suicide. Now I have to shake off the feeling that I still have the posibility that the same fate waits for me. I run now and all the medical research says I have done wonders for myself. But there is still the chance. Please stop. Stop now. rap...

Robert, I understand what You mean... something that horrible happened to one of my dears, even if not as close as Yours. It's not too late for You to stop, if You got the will. And I am sure You got it now. As for the art: I have yet to see an image from Robert I don't like... ...please don't surprise me! ;-) Cheers Mario

My condolences, I'm sorry that it was such a tough way to go. I lost my father some time back to cancer myself, it's a tough thing to go through, even when not self inflicted. Spectacular image by the way, some of your best work yet I'd say.

Awesome image! excellent work on this. So sorry for your loss. Both my parents are gone .. one 27 years ago to cancer and my father just 3 years ago at the age of 92 .. again to cancer. It's never easy and you wonder how much of them are in you and what your chances are.

Really nice. Good lighting and composition. I'm interested in getting into poser, Which figure is she? Are you using poser/daz studio ? My parents also both passed from smoking. I can second your comments. Lung cancer got my mother and emphasema got my dad.

Neat lighting and super rich environment. Sorry to hear about your Mom... I hope your plea carries some weight and changes at least one life. One has to ask themselves, is what they get from smoking REALLY worth the risk of an end like this?

Sorry for your loss. I envy you having the strength to watch over her during her final days. I avoided contact with my father during his bout with cancer and never forgave myself when his fight was over and I wasn't at his side... This might sound a bit cold but take comfort in the knowledge that her suffering is over.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I feel for you and totally empathize and agree with what you're saying. My grandfather died of lung cancer when I was 14. He suffered a great deal near the end and had a similiar situation as your mother. It was really horrible and for that reason I never ever wanted to smoke. My sister in law died last year. She was in her 40s. She had smoked for most of her life and got breast cancer. She fought it long and hard for a couple years but there was nothing they could do in the end. It went to her brain and her liver. And would you believe she smoked up until the end? Just couldn't give it up despite what her doctors said. My mother in law also passed away last year - pulmonary fibrosis. Yep, she smoked too. Fortunately, my mother has never smoked ever. She is now 83 years old and acts half that age - has more vitality and vigor than most. She also walks and watches what she eats. And she doesn't take any medication. I totally agree with you - cigarette smoking is just a bad thing to do. Now on to your picture. It's very lovely. Great lighting for your character. Love her pose and outfit. Excellent background for the lovely lady too. Nicely done. Bravo! Take care!

An excellent and detailed image, always a joy to see! I an sorry for your loss. I quit two years ago, cold turkey, I have gained a lot stuff back. Like taste and the ability to really smell things. Smoking is on the way out and soon will be a thing of the past. Thank god! If you smoke, all it takes is a choice to stop. It is that simple, I did it!

I'm very sorry for your loss. I've never smoked, and my Dad stopped over 30 years ago - and he's still going strong now in his 70s. A comment on your image. It is truly remarkable - incredible depth in your setting, with layers of content. But within each layer there is excellent detail, and it just lives off the screen. Kudos! 5+

It's amazing to me how many lives are changed in some way due to smoking. being one of the leading causes for death it amazes me that so many people begin smoking each year. But, like I said I'm not a preacher. I know too well how hard they are to quit. I lived the hell of withdrawal (I was a 3 packer). I can tell you it was one of the hardest things I have ever done. But, watching both of my parents sicken, was even harder. For all of you who have been though this I am deeply sorry.

I'm not that crazy about chicks with pointy ears, but this is a cool render. I like the lighting from the orb, and the mystical feel it gives to the scene. Sweet render for sure!!!

I'm so sorry about your mum. That's got to be...the hardest thing, to lose your mum, and worse, to have watched her suffer. I can only wish you strength and peace in this lonely, hard time. I'm glad you no longer smoke. You'll spare your daughter the horror. I think you're going to be a survivor, healthwise. You've done everything right since you quit. Your mum was proud of you, I'm sure, for quitting. Take care, Robert. I hope your family is rallying around you, now is when family counts. Mmm...the image is beautiful. One of your best. Light in darkness. You're going to be all right. :)
