Description
Captured 7/25 & 7/26/08, early in the morning, about .75 mile/1.207 kilometers from home.
Closeup ground POV of a typical antislip metal plate set on a gentle concrete slope leading from either a sidewalk to a street or from a business area to a sidewalk. They are quite commonplace around town. The domes shown are mere fractions of an inch across.
Top photo shot with the macro lens setting; bottom with the auto lens setting. Pictures taken on two separate days at about the same time.
Of course, I was again the target of stares by puzzled onlookers as I was engaged in this exercise.
Have yourselves a great Monday.

Very cool, Harry; don't worry about the passers by, they are obviously NOT photographers!!

Excellent POV, Harry! These have been used for years in the UK< at intersections where there is a pedestrian crossing light. They are underfoot for the benefit of the blind. Perhaps they serve the same purpose where you live.

Wonderful captures, both! I love these. Thank you for braving the slings and arrows of the looks of the non-initiated in order to bring us such wonderful images! I like them both best. Most excellent work, my dear!

The top ones has my vote for the best point in focus imho. I bet they thought you lost a marble and was looking for it.

Ya should have said, "Lost my contact"... LOL ... I can picture you down there eye-level with the ground... Good for you! And I must state... I don't like the yellow anti-slip things, especially when you have to roll your grocery cart over them and things start bouncing about! Great shots, but I have to agree with busi2ness, I live the top one best :0)

I should be catching up on your recent uploads, but I missed so much from before, I've been romping in your older uploads as well, and I've been having the best damned time. This is typical of your playful side, and yet it's serious stuff: The full view shows lots of detail and not just the sweeping pov of these oh so common antislip panels. It looks like a take-off strip for a sci fi movie, and it also looks like a microscopic closeup of biological colonies; and even a 28th C. "city of the future" with one of those maddening repetitive cityscapes that sci fi writers love to create when imagining a faceless future. And it's also pure abstract art---I always say you have an abstract artist in you---in that you've not only explored pattern & light, etc, but focus too because the first panel has focus towards the front, while the second has focus in the back (with a wonderful sharpening in the background). Basic montage & contrast, and basic exploration of one of the most common sights in the western world. And the thing is, it could be all of a foot or more---but in this angle, it seems like miles. Love it.
