Description
Hi all - This is a 'commissioned picture' - i.e. I was contacted by another Rendo member who asked if I would be willing to create a picture or two of some of the characters he and his wife had created. So, I thought why not? It would be fun to do some unique characters and stretch my skills a bit further.
This picture is the first of one of their cool characters. Here was the description I was given via email.
"Rhale Grimslade: Golden winged warrior, A little over 6 feet tall, 200lbs of well tanned, battlehardened muscle w/black tribal tats all over his body; shoulder length black hair and eyes of blue light with no iris or pupil; handsome Native American features in the face.
Pose/image suggestion: In an other worldly sky, in flight, right hand clutching a massive broadsword, blue fire along the blade, left hand outstretched, releasing an intense bolt of blue energy... He should be wearing a chrome loincloth, and nothing else.
Background: Once king of Maganam, but now, through adventure, circumstance, and experience, has ascended into an immortal paragon, finding and fighting evil on a cosmic scale."
I had to create the face morph myself to come up with 'Native American' features. Just about everything was created using Photoshop CS3. The flames are modified using the Liquify tool and lots of color modification (Pyro 2 flames). The loin cloth was created in Photoshop (with help from a 'cloth kit' by Folkvanger). The wings were color enhanced and modified using the Warp tool. The tattoos were all painted on and modified using the Warp and Distort tools and the bolt of lightning was also added and enhanced with colors and filters to get the blue glow effect. Oh yeah, and the background is the Orion Nebula. It's a photograph taken by the Hubble telescope. (Credit: NASA, ESA, M. Robberto ( Space Telescope Science Institute/ESA) and the Hubble Space Telescope Orion Treasury Project Team). The photo has been color enhanced a bit for this picture.
Whew. Lots of work but lots of fun to make. Hope you like it!

OMG!!! Awesome is the best fitting descriptive word I have. Your colors are so brilliant, pose is excellent, special effects are "out of this world" and your background is spectacular!!!
