Description

Hehe, this is my last upload of this dubious nature. I have been called names like dungographer and Renderosity has started a LWitDG (DON'T ask about the "D"! lol) Kidding aside: This is a manly dung beetle taking home a honeymoon present for his bride. She can be seen in a somewhat passive role on the other side of the ball. Her eggs will be laid inside. While making fun of this, bear in mind, these creatures spend a great deal of their lives in dung and therefore, out of respect,  we don't drive over dung heaps in the bush.

Now you can relax, something moody and heavy next time, more on par with my age. anges022.gif

See you in the August forum challenge.

Thank you for silly comments, dung-eon humor and visits to my previous upload:

You've GOT to be KIDDING me. Such interesting facts you give us! You are a dung-pro! LOL At first when I saw this i thought OMG, that poor beetle didn't didn't drop THIS??? lol ouch!!!! Excellent pov on this dropping Pieter. I'm just saddened it is the last. I have yet to see Hippo-stuff, Giraffe-Stuff, just to name a couple. (..and now I can't believe my sudden interest in dungology)

... I would never have the idea personally to speak disparagingly about your photos. On the contrary! Who of us gets these interesting "things" to see? Even more nicely that you show them to us! This is the real life! And the dung beetle could not increase, if there was not the fertilizer! Thanks over again that you have shown me the exceedingly interesting pictures! Also this is a wonderful admission - what always the "other" may say in addition! (I hope that the text was translated correctly!)

If it wasn't for those little dung beetles the old saying would run more like "It's a Dungle out there" lol Bless them for burying most of it before we step in it :)

Thanks for the pic. I had read about them and how they spread the fertilizer. Didn't know they were an inch or more. He's standing head down, right? Dick

Why, what's the matter? This (or a closely related one) is a holy Scarabeus, moving the Sun on its way! Remarkably, this implies that ancient Egyptians thought of the Sun as a globe, rather than a spot -- not so evident at that time. Congrats! Lorand

Amazing how everything in nature is recycled. If only humans could be so wise. Once again, most interesting.

Ok, I don't think I would drive over dung in any case...I hate washing my car but now I suppose there is one more reason for swerve. I have always thought dung beetles were in a class of their own - not many will spend time taking it home...most bugs just make use of it where it lies. Super macro!
