Description
Captured 4/3/08, very early in the morning, about 1.2 miles/1.938 kilometers from my sacred sanctuary.
This spot is right off a busy street. The first photo shows the flock in the process of landing; photos two and three show them alarmed and fleeing from something or other, possibly me, someone walking by, or by a car horn. They do return after a few minutes. I try to be as nonchalant as possible in their presence, but it doesn't take much to spook them. I find I can best stroll about without exciting them when they're busily gorging themselves on the feed that has just been tossed on the ground by the inhabitants of an adjacent Hindu temple.
They took off so fast in photo No. 3 that they just about knocked me over. It was not a zoom shot, they were literally that close. Talk about instantaneous teamwork. Or mass hysteria.
Oh yes, almost forgot...snaps taken at 1/1250th of a second. And sorry about the busy background, I didn't have much choice in this instance.
Zoom in for a closer look.
Thankx for the visit, and have a merry day/night wherever you are.

Did you get any on you? Great collection of shots, for some reason I don't see any pigeons around my actual abode... got to go to the waterfront where they compete with the gulls!

Looks like a remake of "The Birds". What a great test of reflexes and glad you didn't have any messy clean ups to do!!

I love this Harry; the 3rd one in particular :) The background isn't too busy; but maybe the postwork done on the 3rd one cuts some of it down a tad. :)
