Description

Final image in my Haudenosaunee Festival series. Jesse is the one who did most of the drumming and singing but did participate in a couple dances. I had the opportunity to speak with him one on one when I was leaving. He explained that when you achieve a high level in the dance then you 'graduate' to drumming and singing. The singing is in his native language, Seneca, and believe me when I say there was no need for music. He was outstanding! I loved the hair barrettes that the ladies wore and the feather headdresses that the men wore. The rabbit dance was my favorite as they echoed the singers and they had some unique hand movements, bowing to their partners and exchanging partners in very fluid movements. This was another first for me and one of the best experiences of my life. Thanks for looking and previous comments. I am very pleased that you liked this series!
