Description

You will never expect it. Nor know the danger beforehand. There is no warning of it and there is nothing you can do to protect yourself. A knock on the door. Two people stand there when you answer it. Nicely dressed as if they are going to a meeting. They introduce themselves and your heart begins to pound. "My name is Janie and I am from Social Services...this is..." you hear little bits and pieces as the thundering of your heart gets stronger. They tell you they recived an anynomous call. They are "concerned". They'd like to take you and your child to their office. For a little "chat" You are no longer thinking. Panic is flooding you, you haven't done anything to harm your child. You know nothing about this, but somehow you know this is only the beginning of a nightmare. You answer their questions, you answer as truthful as you can be. Knowing you are innocent. Believing the truth will set you free. Will end the nightmare you find yourself in. But they say you aren't telling the truth, that they are concerned and that it is in your child's "best intrest" to be removed from your care until everything is settled. In that instant your world, your life, your happiness is gone. In that instant you are dead inside. In that instant the only thing you can think of is NO!!!!! You beg the Gods you believe in that this is a nighmare and you will wake up. Tears roll down your face as you see your child go by, lead by "janie" you die inside.. this is no dream, you will not be waking up.. This is only the beginning of a mother's nightmare...The life you and your child lead to this point is shattered by the Complete and total power of the Social service system, designed to protect children and yet instead shatters their lives and the lives of their parents. Tearing apart everything and leaving nothing but pain behind in their belief's that all parents except THEM are unfit to raise children. all because of an anynomous call.. Many lives shattered.. and the nightmare begins....

Yours is not the first story i've heard - and it makes me very very angry and upset for ALL of the parents who are unjustly accused on what? Little to NO evidence!!?? Something very similar happened to a co-worker of mine. It not only wrecked her family, but the ripple effect was enormous. Neighbors no longer invited her family to parties, no one asked her to watch their children, the family was pretty much ostrasized. Yes, i know that there are valid cases, and there are children who have been severly abused, even murdered. BUT what of those who are unjustly and unfairly tried and convicted by the Social Services with NO evidence, such as in THIS depiction? I'm not sure WHAT the answer is to this Social dilemma, and the dilemma of child abuse - BUT i do know there has to be something better than this Government intrusion into the home. This is Ms. Clinton's answer offered in her book, "It takes a village" which everyone so lauded, wherein she states "Every family should have it's own social worker". Sorry, but that's BS! My heart goes out to every person who has ever experienced the situation so aptly and clearly described above. It HAPPENS ALOT, and parents are made to feel as though they are liers, outlaws, and the scum of the earth.

It's a lovely picture and I agree. Too often the social services are in the wrong. Taking children from the wrong families and leaving children in the worst ones. I feel they have gone drunk with power, but that's just me. It's a lovely image and I am sorry that you had to create it from personal pain.

It's now been about four months since you posted this image. Besides it's being a masterful work, it moved me greatly for personal reasons and I have often wondered about it. Cases like this are far and inexcusably too common. I assume this work is based on an actual situation? Your personal experience, right? How horrible for you, I have prayed for you often. I wish you would post an update. Has anything been resolved? Is it better, or worse, or is the Social Services department just dragging it on and on forever, as usual? In any case my prayers are still with you.
