Description
Huge mill stones grind the dark red powder in to useful pigment called “rode dodekop” (Red deadhead-what’s in a name) in a old fashion way, here in the historic Paint mill “de Kat” located on the “Zaanse Schans” Zaandam the Netherlands.

I’ve been there last spring, and between a lot of visitors from all over the world I could still make some great shots you’ve seen a few already a few months ago.
Worth to visit I should say.

There still exists in France of the Mills with corn which manufacture the flour in this artisan's way… and in Africa, in certain villages, one grinds the 'mil' in this way! Thanks to you I am happy to learn that it exist still of the mills to manufacture real pigments!!! We are so much invaded chemicals! Very beautiful photograph with the obvious interests! SPLENDID
