Description

Only minutes after we crossed the coast of Greenland at 63N 41W at an altitude of 34,000-ft. on a commercial Boeing 747 the scenery below us began to change. We could see the end of solid glaciers that originated in the interior of Greenland and we could see where they ended and calved various-sized icebergs. A note to this picture. Anyone on our flight that had a window seat would or could have seen exactly what I saw, but most people didn't pay any attention to these sights or didn't think of photographing them. This picture was taken on 3 October 1991 and later scanned. Thank you for viewing and commenting on my recent uploads and a special 'Thank you' to those that may have added some of them to their favorites, Sig...

Down there is the source of "Glacier Girl" and the B-29 that Darryl Greenamyer rescued and then burned. Maybe one of the icebergs held one for a time after migrating as a glacier then floated to the tropics and dropped it when it melted. The ice is not talking.

I have never flown Sig, I just never got round to it, but if I had I would have been glued to the window the entire flight. If someone else was sitting there and not enjoying the view, I'm afraid I might have got a tad upset with them and changed seats, forcibly if needed. Lol. Excellent capture, a beautiful view from high in the sky. Bravo!!!!!

Like powdered sugar dumped out of the bag...Such a feeling of isolation comes with this much ice. Gorgeous capture.
