Steam train Southern Limburg (miljoenenlijntje). I was visiting family today in Simpelveld. This steamtrain stops almost in the backyard. I live half a mile from where this train starts. To be honest i never been on it,but i will go there soon. Maybe i can get closer to make better photo's. Here is some info about this beautifull train. The trail this old fashioned steam train follows goes from Valkenburg to Kerkrade via Simpelveld. This trail was first used in 1896 and costed 12 miljoen guilders, a very large amount in this time. Therefore the trail got the nickname Miljoenenlijntje(million trail). And that for a trail which was closed in 1988 already, because the track via Landgraaf proved to be much faster. However, the old trail is even more beautiful. The steam train takes you on a route with beautiful panoramas, through green valleys and past picturesque train stations. A ride with this train is a good combination with a visit to the Industrion in Kerkrade, which is situated next to the station.
