Description

Some manufacturers are very successful in producing civil passenger aircraft that can make profits in revenue service. For a time commercial cargo used passenger baggage holds with containers and upper decks of freighters, combi freighters and convertible passenger cargo aircraft. Older civil aircraft have been converted with swing noses and swing tails into stright in loaders. That isn't sufficient for really big loads called outsize. A high wing and wide fuselage give a spacious interior. A rear ramp allows easy loading and airdrop of vehicles. Rough field gear allows landing on unprepared airstrips. Sometimes it can kneel to give a truckbed height floor for loading. A extreme high lift system on the wing allows short field operations. Weight lifters are light enough to fly. Payload fraction is a big issue. Inflight refuelling allows global range non-stop.

Very cool modeling, the figure really helps with the scale. Looks like it can haul a lot of stuff!

Ah yes, a splendid rendition of the giant Boeing C-17 Globemaster III, in all its modeled splendor, T! I believe I've posted some photos on Renderosity that I took last October of the awesome carrier. Still have some more to put up there.

Neatly done model. We don't have enough of these or the C5's to do the jobs required. Maybe that's why we paid the Russians to fly the patriot missles to Israel during Desert Storm. You're at your best here!

Nice modeling and thanks for providing the figure for determining scale. Well done. Much cooler than a C-130.

Would like to see Captain Sim do a version of this for FS9 built to the quality of their C130. Great render!
