Description
I was in my backyard this afternoon and noticed something on the grass. When I investigated I found three beautiful moth wings. Don't know what happened to the fourth wing or the moth. I brought them inside and googled sphinx moths and found the one that matches the wings. They belong to a Manduca quinquemaculata, commonly known as a five-spotted hawkmoth. The colors and textures of this fractal remind me of those gorgeous wings.

This is so cool Anne and I love the background you gave us on how you came up with the Sphinx Moth image. Great job as always my friend :)

This is gorgeous! I had to go google hawkmoth, and guess what the larva are? Those great big caterpillars that you often find on tomato plants, and many people kill because they love to eat tomato plants!! I'm gonna yell at everyone I know that kills these caterpillars from now!! Who knew they turned into such beautiful creatures???

Very well done, and we've got those moths around here, too! They really are quite something, aren't they! Nicely done, Anne!

We have hummingbird moths here, same thing, I think. They love moonflowers and nicitania, I know. Yes, they are the same thing as the Tomato or Tobacco Hornworm in the larvae state. Your spiral is much prettier than any insect, lovely though they may be. Gorgeous work.
