Description

One day a large, well maintained, commercial, off-shore tour boat or yacht was anchored here. The name on the stern was "Ugly Anne". I thought, why such a name? The answer was apparent the next day when its' dingy, seen here, was tied up at the bigger boat's anchorage. Looks like the big boat was named after the dingy and not the other way around. The idea for this unusual cropping comes from Scott Kelby's, The Digital Photography Book, 2007. Thanks to the vertical layout of this image, it is best viewed on a large screen where you don't have to scroll up and down through the image. Might have been a better picture taken on a mirror smooth surface but the big boat didn't go out early enough for a crack of dawn shot. :-)

Great image, I don't understand why you didn't get more comments. Maybe if you selectively coloured the boat.

I like the composition of this...adds another dimension to the capture...You have a wonderful gallery...I have a photo of a small boat in Perkins Cove Maine also with the name "Ugly Anne" must be a story there somewhere?

OMG!!! Was this taken at Perkins Cove, Maine? I went deep sea fishing for the fist time on a boat called the Ugly Ann...I shall never forget it as long as I love... I got SOOOO seasick, LOL...and no one on board caught a thing..I remember the captain saying that he was moving us to another area for another few hours...and I wanted to cry, LOL...And this was WITH motion sickeness medicine!
