Description

Last week we went to the Vosges Mountains in the North-East of France. The region of the Vosges Mountains suffered heavily both in Worldwar 1 and 2. In WW1 the French Army tried to defence te country by building numerous fortresses all over the North-Eastern parts of the country. The one I show you (nearby a village called Rupt-sur-Moselle)here was an element of the defence line that started in Verdun in the North of France. The fortifications of Verdun were destroyed for a great deal by German bombardments. The fortress I show you however has seen no German soldier at all!!. The fortress after WW1 was left unused and now is in deplorable state. It has even got 'hair', which gives the fortress an romantic look... at least in my opinion.

It does appear to have 2 eyes, a nose and a mouth along with fat, happy cheeks. This is a very fine shot with a great deal of character.

Hey, a Sponge Bob Square Pant's fort!--ok, ok, that's prolley a bad TV-bit of imagery, but it popped to mind to readily seeing this. Art wise--excellent capture and lighting. Pays to wander off the beaten path and find the hidden wonders lying here and there most will miss for the easy wide roads. Great job again! da 'Rotter
