Hello again folks, Its been a while since i uploaded any work here, but here it is. Fresh out of Vray, no post, 3dsmax + Vray 1.5, using Reinhard color mapping at 0.55, standard Max cameras plus a very very careful lighting setup lol. Actual client work, getting paid to do this one. Haha. Question, please help me make this even more realistic ? What looks fake ? Hope you like it :) Please leave me a comment :) -Charles

there is cropping witht he table legs to the chairs, but other than that its excellent, absolutely stunning, the lighting is great 5++

Wow... Awesome job... Just awesome.. (I wish I had the patience and ability to do something this detailed..) The only thing I can really see is the Table legs in the chairs.. lol.. Also,(top pic) the window frame, couch's wood, coffee table wood and the dinning room table.. They all look like they have the same wood texture and it is kind of grainy looking..

Awsome work so far. The glass window reflection - with the dull square in it. The wood grain on all the chairs and sofa - the seating looks a bit hard too - its not shiny which is nice but its to rectangular and firm - very hard corners for something your sitting on. The table is not correctly scaled to the chairs or vis versa. Overall looking at the plate settings I would say the table is to small. Not sure what kind of material its supposed to be made of either. Assume the disk on the roof is supposed to be a plug for a light feature. Landscaping wise (judgment call - either way) - the tree outside is either to big , to close or something.

incredibly realistic, but if you want it more so.... i agree with dbry6 on all counts except the tree (in the top image). it looks blurred, like it's an image blown up, but i think the scale looks fine. i'd add that rug looks very odd to me. the bright places are too flat, as if parts are ragged but it's not actually made of strands or bits. and something about its shading makes me think of crayons rather than fabric. i think all the edges are too sharp and harsh, and i say that having spent the last two months or so shopping online for modern furniture (so it's not the look). with that in mind, i'm not sure how much leeway you have, but i'd change the floor. i looked at hundreds of images of interiors i'd never be able to afford, and i think all of them had smooth rather than tiled floors. given that interior, i'd probably go for polished concrete to contrast with the white everywhere. if you're interested, i could PM you URLs of examples of what i've looked at.

Lighting is a mix of high Vray Environment numbers, 1 Direct Light at 1.5, yellowish color, VrayLights at the windows with carefully-set intensities, and light bouncing off of invisible surfaces in specific areas. Kind of like fakiosity but not really, lol. Hope this helps.

The trick is to find your "blown out" maximums near the windows with white surfaces and work backwards from there, having light bounce EVENLY across your 3d model... Once you find that light-dark balance, you dont have to worry about lighting anymore, and you can concentrate on the scene itself.
