Description

The Majestic Movie theater was opened in 1926 by Karl C. LyBrand and is still family operated by Karl C. Lybrand III. It is the oldest continuously operated movie theater in Texas and at $5.00 admission one of the cheapest no doubt. it is located in Wills Point about 45 miles East of Dallas thanks for viewing and any comments

All our old picture houses have been closed down Richard, re-opened as Garages, Pubs, Nightclubs, Bingo and Dance halls. For quite sometime we had to travel to the next town to see a movie, we do have another one in Rochdale now though but it is a multi screen showing severl different movies at the same time. Excellent capture of this old stalwart, a similar shape to some of the older buildings over here in the UK. I hope he continues to provide value for money for many years to come. Great to see a private owned establishment carrying on the old tradition. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!

A great photo - and to think this place has been in business since 1926! And $5 admission? Wow! Looks like someone found how to be successful without being greedy!

Wow, that's fantastic! You definately don't see many places like that around today, and that's a shame. The multiplexes have kind of ruined some of the nostalgic feel of the movies. This is a great photo, and takes you back in time a few years. Nice one!

I love this. The hometown feeling goes with it. We had a small movie theater in my town that we called Raymond's Roach Hut ... all the spilled drinks and food brought them in and as soon as the lights went down you had to keep an eye out. It was our only entertainment for years and years so you just gritted your teeth and watched the movie.
