Ghostbear! You are the first Blackfoot I have met - or at least who admits to it. I cannot tell you how we know because the older family members will not speak of it, but I am part Blackfoot. My husband is part Cherokee, Chactaw and Chicasaw. My Grand daughter is Paiute. My older sister is Creek. Small world we walk in, huh? I love the picture of this pow wow. I have only been to two but I loved the dance and singing contests. Oh...and the food! :-)

I am very proud of my heritage.....my grandparents were forced to hide their heritage because they could still be removed from their families and sent to boarding school. Our ancestors weren't even citizens of the US until the mid-1920s.

Mitakuye Oyasin....great shot....we just came back from Crow Creek SD pow wow, there were riders honored who were from the ride to remember those who were hanged in Mankato....my grandmother was Osage and Shawnee and my grandfather was Cherokee....I think it is difficult for others to believe such atrocities could happen but WE ALWAYS REMEMBER. thank you
