I bet you did get quite a rush when you turned around...lol. Now, I want to know when you're taking a trip much farther North to get some shots of Polar bears....yea, I know I'm crazy...lol
MrsRatbag
Wonderful capture, from this distance they look so soft and friendly! Glad you got back in your car, though...

Black bears are scary but Grizzlies ... Wow! they are king of the wilds much as the lion is king of the jungle. This is a fabulous shot...and what a rush it must have been to see them this close without a fence between you.

Great to see these bears. I'm sure you were thrilled. It is truly such a rush to see animals in the wild. CC

You were very smart to keep your distance! I've seen a few black bears up close and even though they are not as aggressive as grizzlies they are still dangerous. Wonderful shot!!!!!

Awesome shot! I've never seen a wild animal in the wild, very sad thing, well except if bees and spiders count... right! Glad you were safe and able to take this shot, they look very mellow and friendly from where you are :)

I have many fond memories of black bears from my childhood. Almost every summer we visited my grandmother who had her artist's studio in the mountains of Colorado and the bears would often come onto her land. Seeing this I can remember the smell of the pine trees, and hear the babbling brook behind her home. Bears are such great animals. It is amazing how images and memory are connected. Thank you for sharing this! : )

They are a pretty common site in the mountains out here, but still always a thrill to see, great picture~

Nice shot. I'd have been out of there pretty quick myself. Once had an encounter with mom & cub. That got me off the mountain really fast. JDoc
