Description
This looks like so many different things, but it's actually another cactus in the rain. I didn't realize it had that red under the spines, that was a surprise!! And isn't that one of the fun parts of photography~~those little surprises!!

This looks much like a fishhook barrel cactus I have. If so, it will bloom one day with gorgeous yellow, waxy-looking petals. Wonderful macro.

It's quite interesting the way some plants in nature protect themselves against predators by having such an inter-weaving of thorns.

Excellent capture Marilyn, there looks to be some wicked spikes in there, they don't look like the ones on our cacti, it has barbs on the end so that when they stab you they stay inside you. Very difficult to get them out. Fantastic colour tones here, and I know what you mean about suprises, things you don't actually see until you upload the picture to the computer. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!

A fantastic macro, but, other than the spines, I have no concept what this might otherwise represent, unless it might be the symbol of a very heavy atom.
