Description

My 3rd Photoshop work. This one was fun to do. Was leafing through one of my wife's "Parents" magazine and saw an ad for Target. The model had such a great face and expression that I had to try my hand at a realistic portrait. Sketched her out and then painted her entirely in Photoshop. I bought a second monitor that I use in portrait mode - so now I can see my reference on one screen while painting on the other. Absolutely love it. Used various skin brushes that I found (there are some great free ones if you know where to look). Although I am very happy with the result - I think that I am painting too "tight". I wanted to paint her a little looser - but found myself being caught up in the details. Maybe it was just the wrong picture for that type of painting. Maybe it's just a style I've fallen into. Any suggestions on how to just "let go" during a painting and not get trapped by every detail? All crits are welcomed. Photoshop CS2 Wacom Intuos3 Pen Tablet 10 Hours

Fantastic! The pose is smart and sassy! However the hair looks flat and 2D. With how much depth you painted into the face and textures it needs more work but then it would be perfect!

At first glance this looked like a render from Poser or another 3D software product, but in the full view you can see each tiny paint brush stroke that you used, and it's an amazing amount of detail. Absolutely fantastic work. I agree with 'Vile's suggestion about the hair looking 2D, but other than blurring and shading more, I'm not sure what else you can do. One thing I noticed, is that the edges of the head phones and hair layers look a little bit sharp, like the mask you used to make those layers could use a little blurring with the waterpaint tool, but that's just a suggestion. Phenominal! Please paint more!

love her eyes:) Has a great look of airbrushing, particularly due to the masks used for the headphones and lead. Like it a lot
