One of the most colored bird in Europe ... Merops apiaster For the fun : the french name means wasp eater not bee !

Great shot,,not in my part of UK, possibly as extreme rarity, but almost certain I saw them in Italy last summer. They are dramatic.

The study of color in this is truly amazing. It has a fairly good sized beak so I imagine it has great success eating bees/wasps :-) Stellar portrait of this incredible bird.
