Description

It whispered from hyperspace into a wobbly parabola around Adamesh. It's journey of three eons finally came to an end as it tried to revive it's crew. The Relative Inertial Frame burned out, and Structural Integration Field failed as cracks appeared in the superstructure of the craft. The bio-computer labored to thrust the ship back into a stable orbit. The fusion thrusters cut off as the the main core of the vessel started to crack in half. The orbital maneuvering system thrust as hard as it could, but the fuel was running low. Alarms sounded as the old ship tried hard to revive it's crew. Finally one stirred and then another. The ship's three thousand year trip from the Triangulum Galaxy had taken a terrible toll on the crew of the Blockade-Runner from Nourasia. Out of ten, only two could be re-animated. The remaining crew couldn't realize that the dread enemy they were fleeing had already arrived long ago in the galaxy they had just arrived in. These visitors were about to be plunged into a conflict they couldn't imagine, for stakes beyond their conception. Adamesh spun below them, a world caught in a nuclear winter with some few survivors gathered around a cool equator. They gathered around their fires and whispered about the lights they saw in the sky over their villages. Balaam, it's sister world, climbed into the sky over it. As the two travelers from the Triangulum Galaxy went about trying to breathe life back into their ship, they didn't realize they had a passenger who had just arrived on board their ship from the planet Balaam, who would drag them into the maelstrom of war. --TO BE CONTINUED!-- Modeled in Wings3d and dedicated to my late brother,Marcel, who died on Aug 18th. He told me he loved my space scenes, so this ship is for his memory.

Now if that isn't the start of some mind-blowing insanity I don't know what is.

I like your brother's taste - its a great ship. I also particularly like the planet, it has a mother-of-pearl look. Sorry about Marcel. From now on you need to live and enjoy for both of you!

The planet looks really good. We can even see the shadows from the clouds. Very nice depiction of the nuclear winter. Really good story (I noticed a different flow of the words from your usual, I liked it a lot). I'm sorry for your loss.
