Description
not so grand and I doubt if it was ever.if the lions were not stone they would leave in shame
I usually post things of beauty, but I decided to post this obvious neglect of a very large building.it is one block deep and wide
thanks for viewing and any comments
Architect: William B. Tabler Architects
completed in 1956 and has a reported worth of 71 million

Wow Richard your point is well made with this image as it is a shame they are allowed to do this. I like when a city takes pride in it's downtown and works with companies and people to make sure they keep them up.

You can tell that once it was quite splendid and modern--it's too bad the materials did not hold up as well as the design!

Richard, you did an exceptional, and much needed job, in capturing this particular image. Throughout my travels I have found that decay runs rampant in this country of ours. Photographers do not just capture the beautiful, they capture REALITY, and a large portion of it is far from beautiful! Excellent and an superb statement for our times !!!!!

Never really understood why that happens. I would think someone could find use of the building but usually that breaks down when it comes time to talk $.

So many of this style of building went up, once upon a time, and it was supposed to be the modern age representation. Problem is, they just weren't very fashionable and they all seem to suffer from this neglect. Almost as if they are now seen as an eye sore long before they become one. I can see that this was once a "showcase." I used to go to an elementary school that had that same zigzag roof over the front part of the building. When the school as built, the newspapers said it was an innovative and futuristic style. Yeah...

A stunning display of aging & neglect! I loved the dialog about the lions! As I continue to move though life I see more & more of this effect. :( I guess it is a fact that things are made with obsolescence in mind. I know Las Vegas Buildings are knocked down on a regular basis, and never get to experience their Golden Days!

This is a world wide problem Richard, when they were built they were show places unfortunately people moved into them and then the downward spiral started. Maybe a building before its time, I would have guessed 60's not mid 50's. Excellent work. Bravo!!!!!
