Description

Well finally went whale watching this season. A really top day even if it was a bit too sunny. A wonderful experence to get so close to such a large animal who is just as inquisitive as us. The first pod was all young adults (Humpbacks) who just stayed around the boat and kept comming in for a sticky beak. Will have to go back out before seasons end. http://www.hervey.com.au/ Thanx for all your comments on my other images. Hope you like this set.

Hoo! Marvelous image. This is Hervey Bay, right? Ralph, what is a "sticky beak?" Possibly you could post a url for whale watching. Dick

You are so lucky to have been able to get such a capture, one of my life's ambitions is to see go whale watching. I saw one once from my room in the Grenadines, it was heading towards Mustique, it was well out to sea. Bequia one of the Islands of the Grenadines were still allowed to catch two whales a year in those days, hopefully they dont now, much check, I just sat with my binoculars totally mesmorised as it went under the sea and came up again. I sat with my fingers crossed I didnt see any boats coming from Bequia ready to catch it.

We live 110 m, above sea-level and can see to the East...the Tweed Coast & to the North...the Gold Coast and can see the whales splashing about, while migrating but nothing , as close, as you did...that was really lucky. Very cool and clear, detailed capture. BB
