Description

Looks sharper in full size. This was really fun to make. I had to learn a few new tricks for this. There are 3 cloth simulations: the curtain, the base cover and the leather-like string. All materials are Vue procedurals that I created specifically for this image, except the ground, which is bitmap based. I didn't know in which genre to classify this image. I ended up choosing surrealism as maybe the best fit, I hope the true surrealists will forgive me. :-) Thanks for watching! EDIT: I decided to change the genre into Still Life, as suggested. In fact, it seems a better fit. Thanks!

I really like that base cover material, how did you achieve it? You did one thing that we don't see with classic simulations: you added some thickness (the base cover, the string). It's really great as it adds a lot to the "cloth effect". :)

I love this image. It has an elegant sculpture as the main theme, but I can see more humanity in those than in many of the so called 'live' figures around the galleries. Their complex poses symbolize to me inter-personal reliance and intimacy. Its very difficult, but very rewarding. The surrounding elements enhance the special feeling - the softness of the velvet makes the metal even stronger. The simple every day cable emphasizes the precious nature of the dancers. (and I wont discuss the technical merits and achievements, to avoid dragging down the feeling of elation) Thank you.
