Description

Yes, although the venomous nature of the European hornet is strongly over-estimated. Many people believe that "one hornet can kill a rider and his horse". This is not true, unless both of them have severe allergic supersensitivity towards the venom. But in this way even a bee can kill a man. The venoms of these insects contain a mixture of substances that evoke pain, inflammation and maybe general symptoms. Pain is due to stimulation of sensory nerves. I am uneasy about getting close to their nest.if they are on a flower then sure. they will defend their nest at all cost.I have got bit before from accidental contact with their home.all 3 are fine captures

I am more than a bit allergic to hornets, social wasps, yellow Jackets, and bees, lol. I have never come across "Killer Bees" and rarely notice Hornets or Yellow Jackets, so wasps get the bulk of my attention. If they are in the "civilized" part of my world, they get sprayed. Good shots of this species. Thanks for sharing. Lee
