Description
The August bank holiday weekend is the weekend of the Reading Rock Festival and my picturesque walk to and from work becomes rather litter-strewn as the river path is one of the main access routes to the festival site.
This was taken on the first day of the festival and merely illustrates a small portion of the dropped items. It's like walking through a bomb-site at this time.
I must be fair to the organisers of the event, though. Within a couple of days of the end of the festival, all of this will be gone and normality restored.
Plus, a lot of people have had a great time and vital revenue has been brought to the town.
Rock on Reading. :-)

People aren't so worried about litter when they know someone else will pick it up. This is pretty unacceptable, but the main worries are animals and birds who can come to grief with some types of rubbish, like drink cans. It's pics like this that remind us what we are doing to our environment.... all to much though, it falls upon deaf ears for those who readily litter. The scene in the background, of Caversham bridge and surrounding buildings and trees are a real contrast to the foreground..... God I miss that indian takeaway just around the corner.....´Mmmm curreeeeee........
