Description

Hello All~! Have you ever stood somewhere and it almost didn't seem real ? This beautiful beach in south west Michigan with clouds that seemed to go on and on forever and waves that were a large as an ocean was one of those days that I will not soon forget !!! This was a Sunday morning on Wako beach where my Mom attends church -her Foursquare church is held in a rented beach clubhouse type place on the sand and close to the water . The pastor is a laid back lake surfer of 40 years- lol he couldn't wait to go surfing after service that day so cut it short!! He kept looking out at the waves and said "after church we are having a board meeting "!!!(-surfboard meeting ) . He was one of the first lake surfers on Lake Mich in the 60's and gave me an interesting book about it. LOL I am from southern California and couldn't believe they surf in the lake ...!!! so that beach church got out and I headed out to where this was captured . I liked the church but admit had a hard time sitting still through church with camera in hand as I stared out the window and saw these amazing clouds and lapping waves that caught my full attention. There was this little tiki umbrella /drink stand far off in front of a beach property that I could barley see that caught my eye . Couldn't wait to go check it out . I climbed up the dunes & walked through tall windswept grasses ,past all the many scattered boats and summer paths and stood here and shot this . Soon a gentle summer storm came though. This was my favorite day and place this summer~! (Sometimes its a challenge to get all you see and feel- captured in bright sunlight light with my little power shot pocket cam... tried to get it as best as I could with the little time I had there with my Mom waiting back at the beach clubhouse ). Played with in paint shop a bit today to draw it out...) When I was standing here I felt like I was in a dream- or had dreamed of it- so titled. Happy Labor Day to those of you who celebrate it - relax and enjoy the day!!! Thanks for all your time and comments !! Love to all!!! ((( BIG HUGS ))) ~ ♥ ~Kimmers ! :O)

Oh, Kimmie, this is soooooooooo pretty! Is this near where Dani was at the Sand Dunes? She sat on top of the sand dune --- had no idea what was behind her, was it this place? Your post work here is out of this world... amazing what your pocket camera can do .. and the creative touch you add to it. perfect.

Awesome Kimmers.. it still amazes me how the Great Lakes can mimic the oceans around the world with their beauty, turbulance, windy shores and stormy weather. Someday, I will have to visit. Thanks for sharing.

you know, some of your photographs would make great wall-size pics...I live in Chicago where the lake can be ornery and devouring, and I've been to the other side—where you were—and it is also wild, but it always seemed so much milder. Well I just may have been there on calm days...you sure got its power here! Not just of the water, but of the landscape. Your water is echoed in the rippling sky (very painterly), you got the emerald green of the far-water, which happens in this lake—and people think you can see the other side!—and the grasses have a mix of waves and yet individual detail. Don't know how you do it, but you get some amazing painterly power in your shots. And I love how the umbrella cuts into of the frame and invades our space. Another fine piece by you, and if I were there for labor day I'd have been very happy! I think Gun called it a paradise. It sure looks like it. Amazing lake isn't it? One part's like paradise, another, Valhalla, and another—well, a lake. A wonderful shot.
