It's a fine piece of work you have captured. What a pity that lights had to be attached!! Lovely image.

Old and new. Did a quick check of Bowness on Wikipedia: hallowed old church, older than the inscription. Wow.

I tried to translate the inscription, but, as they say in New Jersey, 'fuggeddabbouddit'! But it's a wonderful shot, this old written-upon column caught as if it were the only thing in the cosmos: We can see the background, but you've captured the column as if it were painted there, almost collaged on. Amazing separation! (How you got that white outline on the right I'll never know!) I too looked up the church online and it has quite a history. If you're still in 'bloody England', I hope you're having a wonderful time: You're sure sending back some gems.

Nice capture, Rozanne. At least it wasn't raining inside the church. I love old churches and churchyards. Finding out stories about some of the gravestones can be quite interesting. BBC are replaying Julia Bradbury's series 'WAINWRIGHT'S WALKS' on terrestrial TV this month. I am sure that you would recognise a few viewpoints, and the weather of course,... ;o) Just getting used to an autumnal Glasgow. Some leaves have turned colour already, and a few branches from trees weakened in the spring storms, have fallen in our locality! Warm regards, John.
