Description

Another 'weed' found everywhere here, beautiful in the flower stage...but I can't tell you how many of these burrs I have removed from pant legs after the bloom dies! And if you don't see them right away, they get twisted up in the material and are somewhat hard to remove...have also removed these from kitties fur, very hard to remove! Info below extracted from the internet...Large file, please zoom! Common Burdock: Arctium minus Weed Description: A biennial that produces a rosette of very large leaves in the first year and a branched stem with many burs during the second year. Found across the upper half of the United States and is most commonly found as a weed of pastures, hay fields, and fence rows. Flowers: Occur in clusters at the ends of branches (terminal racemes) or in clusters that arise from the region between the stem and leaves (axillary racemes). Flowers are purple to lavender, occasionally white, with outer bracts that are "hooked." Flowers dry to a bur, and the hooked bracts are often confused with a thistle. Fantastic shot, Lynn. It is very beautiful. One can see all the small hooks. And they do get stuck on clothing and furry animals. So..Deceptive Beauty is a prefect title i would say.:)+5
