Description
One of my tenants let me use his 3rd floor balcony which gives a great west to north to east view to take this shot. It had rained like hell all night and I was trying to get another lightning pic to add to my sorry collection of one, for the majority of the night I was panning the west sky and when it finally stoped raining at 4:30 in the morning I figured I should pack up and return to my apartment... Imagine my surprize when I turned around to leave and I saw this. The sky was still heavily overcast and the sun had not yet crested the horizon needless to say I started shooting. I stiched together 5 pics in photoshop and cropped ALOT of black dead space and tah-da my first Panarama.

BMNT. Beginning Morning Nautical Twilight...that's what you've done a great job of capturing here. I learned that phrase many, many years ago (at least 45) and this is the first time I've been able to use it since! Many thanks! Good job. And a successful panorama. Haven't done one but it is next on my list. By the way...have a new 22" widescreen monitor and can still only get to see about 75% of this neat shot at one time. Bill

I think my favorite part of sunrise is just before the sun touches the horizon. the sky near the horizon is illuminated in pinks and mauve. The rest is in grays, blues and don't ask how a light peach tone matches it all but it does. The wonder of the universe eh? Your first? Wow..my hats off to you with a lowly bow. Moments like this makes me think of when we were little, afraid to go to bed because we'll miss something. Well here you proved that we were right!! Fantastic sunrise!!
